Identity flipped

Last season, Florida had an elite passing offense led by quarterback Kyle Trask and multiple first-round picks in Kyle Pitts and Kadarius Toney.

That talent isn’t there this season for Florida football and that was evident on Saturday as the Gators created just one explosive play in the passing game which covered 36 yards.

Despite that, Florida football was still able to create some big plays, they just came in the running game. Richardson ripped off a few big runs, while Jones also notched a run over 20 yards.

Malik Davis who ran the ball 14 times for 104 yards and scored a touchdown, also notched a 31-yard run, and even Clemson transfer Demarkus Bowman, who only notched five carries, had a 15-yard scamper.

The defense was outstanding and should be a strength this season, however, the running game is also going to be tough to stop, especially with two multi-faceted quarterbacks.

While it’s effective, the Gators definitely have a different identity, one that hopefully includes a better defense in 2021.
