Texas A&M football beat Kent State behind some strong running backs, a few big defensive stops, and overall good quarterback play. We saw freshmen make big plays and some returning seniors and super seniors show why coming back was a good idea for this Aggie team.

What hot takes could I conjure up from this win? Let’s start with quarterback Haynes King.

3. Haynes King will be fine, despite throwing three picks

Saturday night’s game saw new quarterback Haynes King throw three interceptions. However, his team won by 31 and was able to control the time of possession throughout the entire game. He was able to make plays with his legs, putting together 22 rushing yards and threw for two touchdowns.

Yes, the three interceptions are concerning. However, for his first game as a starting quarterback, things went overall very well. I think that there is time to clean up his play as the Aggies face off against Colorado, New Mexico, and Arkansas before welcoming Alabama to town.

There is time and things will get better for King. Will he be the best quarterback in the conference this year? Probably not, but he will be in the top half by the end of the season, maybe even the top quarter, thanks to the weapons he has and the coaching staff around him.
