ACC Football: Week 1 Power Rankings after Clemson, UNC lose

10. Virginia Cavaliers, 1-0: The V-Men dominated FCS, William, and Mary on Saturday evening. The game did not tell us much about the Cavaliers. They shut out the Tribe in dominant fashion, showing they were prepared and did not mess around.
If there is anything we learned about the Cavaliers, they will use a by-committee approach to running the football. Eight different players got carries against William and Mary. Without a dominant rusher, expect that to continue the rest of the season.
9. Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 1-0: The Demon Deacons were dominant against Conference USA foe Old Dominion, winning 42-10. Wake Forest was efficient offensively and dominated an offense still looking for their starting quarterback.
Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman was sharp, throwing three touchdowns. The running game, led by Christian Beal-Smith, ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns. We’ll learn more about Wake Forest when they play Florida State on September 18th.
8. Boston College Eagles, 1-0: Like the other two teams in this group, the Boston College Eagles played an inferior opponent this weekend, defeated FCS opponent Colgate 51-0. Quarterback Phil Jurkovec had a great day, leading the Eagles in passing and rushing.
However, no one took hold of the running back position, which could hurt the Eagles moving forward.
