2. Matt Corral started his Heisman campaign

Matt Corral is one of my favorite quarterbacks in college football this season and he made me look pretty smart on Monday night with a monster performance against the Cardinals.

While “Corral” and “Heisman” being mentioned in the same sentence is usually followed by “if the Rebels are contenders” but Monday night opened some eyes. The Rebels looked really good against a non-conference Power Five foe. This team might just be legit after all.

The talented quarterback had a near-perfect opening performance and those who were worried about his interception problem were silenced as he didn’t turn the ball over at all.

In fact, Corral finished the game with 381 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-32 completions, and the fact that he had just one score was shocking. He probably should have had more, but he’s not going to complain about it because he added one on the ground and finished with 55 rushing yards. He ended the day with over 430 total yards and two scores while making minimal mistakes.

Unlike one-time favorite Sam Howell, Corral’s Heisman campaign is off to a roaring start.
