This is a conference that needs some success in the national spotlight. A Pac-12 football team hasn’t made the College Football Playoffs since 2016 when the Washington Huskies represented the conference.
Other than the Huskies appearing in the 2016 playoffs, the only time a team from the Pac-12 has made it to the College Football Playoffs was its first year in 2014. That 2014 season, the Oregon Ducks made it to the College Football National Championship game where they would lose to the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Last season was a tough season for every team in the sport of college football but Pac-12 football teams had among the toughest roadblocks due to the restrictions on the West Coast.
The highest-ranked team in the playoff rankings at the end of the season was the #17 USC Trojans. The only other team that finished ranked in the playoff were the #25 Oregon Ducks.
It is a brand new season as the Oregon Ducks are the favorites to win the Pac-12 football championship this season by several media outlets. The season has already started for some schools in week zero, including the UCLA Bruins, who dominated the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 44-10. The Bruins followed that up with a big win ranked over a ranked team.
