College Football 2021: Top 3 under-the-radar games to watch in Week 2
By Shane Lunnen
2. (5) Texas A&M vs. Colorado (in Denver)
Twelve years have past since these former Big 12 foes have met. The contest in 2009 was a 35-34 victory for the Buffaloes in Boulder. The nostalgia factor of an old school Big 12 contest is a pretty good reason to watch.
A week ago, the Aggies struggled early against Kent State, only leading 10-3 at the break before pulling away in the second half to win 41-10. The Buffaloes easily took care of Northern Colorado 35-7.
One of the areas the Aggies need to clean up is the turnover department. Against Kent State, the Aggies turned over the ball five times, four interceptions and one fumble. Against lesser competition, the mistakes may not hurt but the Aggies may not be so fortunate as the schedule increases in difficulty.
Both teams like to control the clock so it will be interesting to see which one ends up doing the better job in time of possession. The difference could be Texas A&M’s ability to strike quickly.
Colorado has enough of a defense to pressure Aggie quarterback Haynes King into mistakes. The Buffaloes need to take advantage of any turnover they get if they hope to pull what would be a huge upset.
