USC Football: 3 reasons the Trojans will beat Stanford in Week 2
2. USC’s passing attack will get back on track
USC’s offense is known for throwing it around a lot with their air raid scheme, but they showed some more balance this week. I think the weak point of Stanford’s defense is their secondary and USC needs to get their passing game back on point after struggling at times last week against San Jose State.
In 2019, USC quarterback Kedon Slovis made his first career start against Stanford and had one of the best games of his young career. He was 28-33 for 377 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions in that game. Slovis had a disappointing stretch of games in the brief 2020 season and did not look in sync last week, but I think that is going to change in a big way on Saturday.
USC has a big-time receiver in Drake London and he had a great start to the season last Saturday. London had 12 catches for 137 yards and was the focal point of the passing game. I expect other receivers to get involved this week, but London will still be the shining star of the USC offense once again.
