Nebraska football improved to 2-0 on Saturday with a win over Buffalo and here are three takeaways from the Huskers win.

If you expected Nebraska football to blow out the Buffalo Bulls, you probably didn’t pay attention to the scouting report leading up to the game.

The Bulls are one of the best teams in the MAC and should be a contender for that league’s championship. It also has a solid defense and a stellar running game, which Nebraska football fans saw on Saturday.

Yet, for the most part, the Nebraska football defense held its own and the offense did too, although there were plenty of missed opportunities.

Is this team ready to take on Oklahoma next week and be competitive? Here are the key takeaways from Nebraska football’s win over Buffalo.

Adrian Martinez carried the offense

The veteran quarterback accounted for 354 total yards and three touchdowns in the win for the Huskers. He threw for 242 yards and ran for another 112. His big run helped spark an offense that was in need of one.

Then, his two long touchdown passes to Samori Toure proved to be the difference in the game. One put the Huskers up 14-0 — the other made it 28-3 with just over five minutes left to go.

As I said in my predictions, Buffalo was going to make it tough and the Bulls did. But Martinez played as you expect a veteran to play. He was dynamic and while he wasn’t perfect, he avoided the big mistakes which was good enough for the Huskers to score a relatively stress-free win.
