3. Notre Dame’s offensive line is a major problem

Notre Dame had multiple linemen move on to the NFL from last year’s team. It is really showing so far this season through two games.

Last week the Seminoles were able to make some noise on defense to get to quarterback Jack Coan and limit the Irish running game as well. A lot of people in the media credited the Seminoles on their improved defense, but at the same is maybe Notre Dame’s offensive line a weakness?

This week Notre Dame’s offensive line looked to get back on track with protecting the quarterback better, and also getting the running game back on track against Toledo.

Minus a few key runs from Kyren Williams and freshman quarterback Tyler Buchner the Irish did not run the ball well. Notre Dame and Toledo both ended the game with 132 yards on the ground. No offense to Toledo but that cannot happen if you are the Irish.

Notre Dame already has had some key injuries at the offensive tackle position which has hurt their line so far this year. It has to be the next man up mentality for the Irish offensive line or else it will get ugly against better defensive fronts.

Have to give credit to the Toledo defense as they were able to stuff the run, and disguise different defensive schemes to be disruptive in the Irish backfield.
