The Pac-12 still has issues

While Oregon football made a statement, the rest of the Pac-12 fell flat over the weekend. Washington, which was ranked in the preseason top-25 is now 0-2 and suffered a loss almost as embarrassing Saturday night as the one against Montana.

Michigan only threw for 44 yards and still ran over the Huskies by three touchdowns. Jimmy Lake and company are talented (ranked 17th in the team talent rankings) but something is off. This team averaged just 1.6 yards per rush and it’s hard to find any positives at this point.

Utah also had a chance to score a key win for the league and lost to BYU, on the road, which is nothing to be ashamed of. Additionally, USC — another preseason playoff contender — lost at home to Stanford, which was blown out a week ago at Kansas State.

Colorado also squandered a chance to score an important win against Texas A&M, which scored late to escape Boulder with a win.

Arizona State is still undefeated but it’s hard to trust the Sun Devils. Outside of Oregon, no one in the league has been particularly impressive, although Arizona State can change that with a top-25 win over BYU in Week 3.
