SWAC football teams faced considerable adversity this weekend as many were looking to secure their first win of the season. Here’s a recap of Week 2.

As the HBCU season continues to roll on and teams look to get more acclimated building chemistry amongst one another, we saw teams some considerable adversity from different places.

Of the nine SWAC football teams in action this weekend, five were looking for their first win of the season with one looking to do so against an FBS opponent.

Meanwhile, both Florida A&M and Southern welcomed played their first home game of the season against Division II opponents with one being met with a considerable test from one of the elite schools in all of Division II football.

Also, we saw the return of the Southern Heritage Classic seeing a matchup of the Jackson State Tigers and Tennessee State Tigers in the first head-to-head meeting of high-profile head coaches and former football greats Deion Sanders and Eddie George.

Here are the results of week two of the SWAC football season and we break it all down.

#25 Auburn Tigers 62, Alabama State 0

Not much was expected of Alabama State going against the 25th ranked team in the FBS Auburn Tigers as they were the only team in the conference to be shutout on Saturday.

Despite the margin of defeat, Alabama State had some moments of brilliance moving the ball effectively on some drives.

The Hornets had an opportunity to score on a field goal but had the attempt blocked and returned for a touchdown by the Tigers.
