This week in the Big Ten football power rankings, the Ohio State Buckeyes fall to the Oregon Ducks while Iowa wins the Cy-Hawk Trophy once again.

After Ohio State’s 35-28 loss to the Oregon Ducks, the question of the week is: “Is any Big Ten football team good enough to beat the Buckeyes?”

Offensively, the Ducks neutralized the running game and made key plays, despite quarterback CJ Stroud throwing for nearly 500 yards.

The next question for the teams that sit atop Big Ten football is: “Is the way they play sustainable?”

Iowa dominated in-state rival Iowa State defensively, but the offense was impotent. Quarterback Spencer Petras threw for just 106 yards against the Cyclones.

In fact, the Hawkeyes have three defensive touchdowns this season. That is hardly a strategy to win a conference with. Then there’s Penn State. The Badgers had the Nittany Lions dead to rights in the first game but could not move the ball offensively. Then Penn State played Ball State.

Can either team stay atop the Big Ten football power rankings? Probably not, but it sure is fun to talk about someone other than Ohio State.

In honor of trophies shaped like axes, shillelaghs, buckets, and hogs named Floyd, let’s jump around to this week’s Big Ten power rankings.
