BYU football sits atop the New Year’s Six Watch with two impressive Pac-12 wins.

Welcome to the watch. There can only be one that represents the Group of Five in the New Year’s Six. The watch is not easy and teams are looking to make their mark and find their way on the watch list.

This week a newcomer has joined the watch, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. The Chants replace UCF, who should receive an honorable mention at 2-0. Coastal makes the list over the Knights only because the Chanticleers are ranked 16th in the Associated Press poll this week.

However, the Knights are playing well so far this season. After coming back and defeating Boise State to open the season, blew out instate opponent Bethune-Cookman. This weekend is a big game against a Power Five opponent, Louisville.

A host of other teams in the Group of Five poised to make their way to the watch, should any of the teams slip and end their watch.

Two teams on the watch play big games this weekend. The BYU Cougars attempt to go three for three against the Pac-12 when they play Arizona State this weekend. The Cincinnati Bearcats try to take down Big Ten opponent Indiana.

Will these games have any bearing on the New Year’s Six? We will see. New Year’s is coming.
