Alabama Football: 3 predictions for Crimson Tide against Florida
Bama’s defense takes advantage of Emory Jones
Dan Mullen has said both quarterbacks are going to play but at some point, you wonder if Richardson would be the best choice for Florida.
Jones has only thrown for an average of 132 yards per game and has more interceptions than touchdowns. The Alabama defense is really good and if Jones struggled against Florida Atlantic and USF, imagine what Alabama football’s defense is going to do.
Jones’ ability to run will help but if the Tide can hold up against the run, he’s going to have to make plays with his arm and his 5.7 average per pass attempt doesn’t inspire confidence.
Alabama’s defense will make the decision pretty clear for Mullen as Richardson and his ability to create explosive plays will be Florida’s best chance. Jones throws at least one interception and struggles in a rough showing.
Prediction
Alabama just has too many weapons on offense and Florida doesn’t throw the ball well enough to win this game unless the Gators are able to win the turnover battle and apply heavy pressure on Young. Slowing him down is Florida’s best chance but Alabama will leave Gainesville with a win.
Final score: Alabama 38, Florida 20
