2. Jack Coan has played well against Purdue throughout his career

There’s a distinct advantage Notre Dame has in this matchup and it’s the fact that the Irish have a starting quarterback who has plenty of familiarity with Purdue.

In fact, Jack Coan was Wisconsin’s starting quarterback for the past couple of years and he happened to play in the same division as Purdue in the Big Ten West. And he fared well throughout his career against the Boilermakers.

Don’t believe me? Here’s how he fared in his two matchups with Purdue:

  • 2018: 16-24, 160 yards, 2 touchdowns (W 47-44 OT)
  • 2019: 15-19, 203 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception (W 45-24)

Two wins in two meetings with Purdue and he threw four touchdown passes with just one interception while completing 31-of-43 passes. He has looked solid for the most part this season and that’s going to continue against a familiar opponent on Saturday.

Coan is going to bounce back from an up-and-down game against Toledo to secure a big win against Purdue for a third time in his career.
