West Virginia Football: 3 reasons Mountaineers will upset Virginia Tech
2. Defense will give Braxton Burmeister fits
West Virginia got a quality opponent in Week 1 and Taulia Tagovailoa went off for over 300 yards and looked like one of the best passers in the country. The Terrapins had 500 total yards of offense but the Mountaineers bounced back to assert their dominance over LIU the following weekend, holding their next opponent under 100 yards in the shutout.
Braxton Burmeister, on the other hand, has looked shaky, at best, this season, passing for 311 yards and two touchdowns with one pick in two games.
And while he played a team like North Carolina which might end up having a really good defense this year, averaging just over 150 yards per game and one touchdown pass per game is just not going to cut it against an opponent like West Virginia which play some solid defense.
The Mountaineers are going to make life difficult for Burmeister all afternoon long and he’s going to make some crucial mistakes in his first true road game of the year.
