West Virginia Football: 3 reasons Mountaineers will upset Virginia Tech
1. Virginia Tech’s offense won’t be able to keep up
With West Virginia’s defense making life difficult on Braxton Burmeister, Virginia Tech’s offense is going to have a tough time keeping up with West Virginia’s attack.
The Mountaineers can put up some points and they’ve shown that through the first two weeks, averaging 45 points per game. They’re also averaging 434 yards per game compared to Virginia Tech’s 340 yards per game. The Mountaineers have shown they can light up the scoreboard while the jury is still out on Virginia Tech.
Burmeister has struggled this season at times while Jarret Doege has settled in quite nicely, passing for 536 yards and four touchdowns with two picks. He’s prone to the occasional turnover and can struggle under pressure, but I think he’ll put up decent numbers against this Virginia Tech defense.
If this is going to turn into a shootout, the Hokies aren’t going to be able to keep up with the Mountaineers.
