29. 840. Final. 31. 829

Alabama football nearly blew a big lead to Florida on Saturday but the Crimson Tide survived and here are three takeaways from the win.

Most of the time when Alabama football goes ahead on someone 21-3, it’s all but over. The Crimson Tide normally crush their opponents, but that didn’t happen Saturday.

Behind Emory Jones and a defense that proved Bryce Young is indeed human — somewhat — Florida put together a furious rally and was a two-point play away from tying the Tide with just a few minutes left.

After that, Alabama football didn’t let the Gators get the ball back, at least not with anything meaningful amount of time (four seconds) and it was all over.

It was a great football game and here are three takeaways for Alabama football following a 31-29 win over Florida.

Alabama is somewhat human

Just like Young, Alabama might just be human. Young didn’t throw any interceptions or make any huge mistakes but the Gators did force some consecutive three and outs in the second half, which is at least a start.

It was enough to allow Florida and its offense to get back into the game. Still, it was a stellar performance from Young, especially in his first game in a place like the Swamp as a starter.

You also have to give credit to Florida and Dan Mullen. The Urban Meyer disciple has become a thorn in the side of Nick Saban and the Gators, like Georgia, have proven they are capable of beating the Crimson Tide…now they just need to do it.
