Bryce Young is unflappable

I’m a huge Bryce Young fan and am a firm believer that he’s the frontrunner for the Heisman trophy. His standout game against Miami put him in the early pole position and his performance at the Swamp on Saturday is only going to help his cause.

Without much of a running game, Young just made play after play, especially in the early going as he led three touchdown drives in the first half, helping the Tide build a 21-3 lead over the No. 11 team in the country.

That’s the kind of play you’d expect from a seasoned veteran, not someone who is a first-year starter and is playing his first true road game.

Florida has improved defensively and as I said, you have to give credit to the Gators for finding a way to get some stops in the second half. But for Young to get through without a turnover, plus leading a massive three-point drive when Florida had all the momentum, it shows that he’s ready to play the kind of football needed to win national championships.

Young completed 22-of-35 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. His yards per attempt was only 6.9 but on third and fourth downs, Alabama football was 8-of-14. The Tide also converted its scoring chances — better than Florida — which is what great quarterbacks do.
