Run defense is a concern

The biggest concern I would have as an Alabama football fan coming out of the 31-29 win over the Gators is the run defense.

It’s rare for Alabama to give up 150 yards rushing and the Gators ripped off 243 yards. Four different guys had runs of at least 13 yards. Malik Davis carried 10 times for 86 yards, while Jones rushed 19 times for 77 yards but that also includes sacks.

Two separate backs ripped off runs of 25 yards or more and while it was uncharacteristic, it’s something to watch.

Obviously, Nick Saban is great about fixing those things but the Tide face some very talented teams in the near future such as Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU, and Auburn, and if the defense gets gashed like that on the ground, 13-0 won’t be automatic.

That being said, it’s the third game of the season and already Bama has beaten Miami and Florida. The Tide has the best resume in college football and from all appearances, the best team.

However, one big takeaway from Saturday is that Alabama is not unbeatable.
