Auburn football heads to Penn State Saturday night in what will be a hostile environment and here’s why the Tigers will escape Happy Valley with a win.

While the third full week of the college football season isn’t loaded with marquee games, there are a few really interesting matchups and one of those will take place between Auburn football and Penn State Saturday night.

It’s always must-see TV when the Big Ten and the SEC get together, especially two of the top-tier programs. Penn State football, which is ranked 10th, just beat Wisconsin on the road two weeks ago and could potentially be a playoff contender.

The Nittany Lions started 0-5 a year ago but have now won six straight and just like Auburn and Bo Nix, Sean Clifford is back once again as the starting quarterback.

As far as Auburn is concerned, this will be the first real test of the Bryan Harsin era. The Tigers have averaged 61 points in two wins, but those wins came against Akron and Alabama State.

But the offense has been humming along and Nix has looked sharp. He’s going to be huge on Saturday night for Auburn football and that’s where we start with our three reasons why the Tigers will pull the upset.

The new Bo Nix heads to Happy Valley

Nix has already played a lot of football at Auburn after starting as a freshman. He’s got two years of experience under his belt and he’s played in a lot of tough venues.

Beaver Stadium is going to be rocking for the “White Out” but it’s not going to faze Nix anymore than playing at the Swamp or Death Valley.

While the competition has been pretty soft, Nix is completing 74 percent of his passes and he’s yet to throw an interception.

And even though he hasn’t run much this season, Nix does have 14 career-rushing touchdowns and I could see him adding one tonight. It’s going to be much harder against Penn State, but if Nix can be efficient and avoid mistakes, Auburn football will have a great chance to win.
