One of the storylines in this game was whether or not Michigan State football could handle the humidity of South Florida. The unseasonably warm temperatures in the Great Lakes region helped with that preparation.

The offense looked fresh and aggressive late in the fourth quarter of their 38-17 win against the Miami Hurricanes. Michigan State played a clean game against the Hurricanes with no turnovers in the game.

Quarteback Payton Thorne played fearless football, throwing for 261 yards and four touchdowns. Thorne’s backfield mate, Kenneth Walker III, ran for 127 yards and pitched in 17 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

The Hurricanes had no such luck this afternoon. Miami wasn’t bad on offense. The Hurricanes moved the ball totaling 440 total yards. Quarterback D’Eriq King threw for 388 yards and two touchdowns.

Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Charleston Rambo tied a school record with 12 receptions, scoring both of Miami’s touchdowns.

King, however, also had two interceptions. Miscues were the soup of the day for the Hurricanes. In addition to the interceptions, King also lost two fumbles and Miami had ten penalties for 93 yards.

It was close and both teams were grinding until the Spartans took control in the fourth quarter and blew the game open.

Great win for the Spartans. Here are three takeaways from Michigan State’s road win.
