3. Oklahoma was able to take advantage of Husker mishaps

Nebraska did a great job battling with the Sooners, as this game never once got too far out of reach. They did this despite shooting themselves in the foot all afternoon.

The Huskers finished the day with 8 penalties for 70 yards. These penalties were a constant problem specifically with the offensive line. As a matter of fact, Nebraska did not even snap the ball before they had two false starts.

They also had kicking woes with Connor Culp missing two field goals from 50 and 35 yards respectively.

The biggest mishap of the day was when Nebraska’s special teams unit allowed a blocked extra point and a return for 2 points. Oklahoma would also score a touchdown on the ensuing drive, gaining 9 points after the Huskers got themselves six.

Oklahoma did a nice job of not wasting the gifts that Nebraska was hand-wrapping for them. The return on the block helped stall the momentum that was built up on the other side.
