Utah State football (3-0), one of the hottest teams in the country, will face perennial Group of Five powerhouse Boise State (1-2) in Week 4.

The Aggies have not gotten off to a 4-0 start since 1978, back when they were a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association. Much of the success is owed to Blake Anderson, who is in his first season as head coach for Utah State.

Utah State already has wins over Washington State of the Pac-12 and Mountain West foe Air Force. They’re looking to get another important conference win against Boise State.

This Utah State squad is fun to watch and hard not to root for. Here are three bold predictions for their big game coming up against Boise State.

3. Blake Anderson has Aggies playing their best football in four decades

Blake Anderson, head coach at Utah State, spent seven years as the hometown hero at Arkansas State prior to joining the Aggies. Anderson, born in Jonesboro, Ark., was 51-37 as head coach of the Arkansas State Red Wolves, becoming one of the most successful coaches in Northeast Arkansas.

Anderson’s accomplishments at Arkansas State were unparalleled, leading the team to six straight bowl games from 2014-2019. However, tragedy struck Anderson when he lost his wife to breast cancer in 2019. Searching for a fresh start after such a life-altering event, Utah State called on Anderson to be their head football coach.

What an incredible match it’s been. Anderson, the resourceful coach, couldn’t think of a better player to bring with him to Logan, Utah than his quarterback from Arkansas State, Logan Bonner.

In just one offseason and three games, Anderson is creating a winning culture that will bring this program to the upper echelon of the Group of Five.
