And I’m sure Brian Kelly is more than happy to assume that role after having a massive target on his back through the first few weeks of the season. The Irish were nearly upended by a bad Florida State team in Week 1, struggled against Toledo in Week 2, and then needed all four quarters to put Purdue away in Week 3.

Why is Wisconsin favored in this one despite being 1-1 with a lone win over Eastern Michigan? That’s honestly a good question, especially since Graham Mertz hasn’t been great but Chez Mellusi has been a godsend as a Clemson transfer running back.

If Notre Dame can shut down the run game and force Mertz to beat the Irish with his arm, I think this one is an Irish win. Either way, I think this game is either Wisconsin by a field goal or Notre Dame wins straight up.
