College Football 2021: Top 4 games that highlight Week 4
By Shelbie Warr
Week 3 of college football brought with it some surprising results and near upsets across the country. What games highlight this Week 4 in 2021?
There are four games this week that make my top games of the week list. They come from four different conferences and all include at least one ranked team.
Let’s get right into it, starting with a matchup at Soldier Field.
No. 12 Notre Dame vs. No. 18 Wisconsin
This one will be an interesting matchup, in my opinion. I am not sold on Notre Dame. However, former Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan now being the starter at Notre Dame is definitely a big storyline. Does Coan have what it takes to win this game after close wins over all three teams they have played so far? When does it all fall down for the Irish? I think that this might just be the week.
Pick: Wisconsin
No. 7 Texas A&M vs. No. 16 Arkansas
Texas A&M and Arkansas face off in a game that seems to have more on the line than it ever has before. Texas A&M is looking to prove that they are still a top team without Haynes King and Arkansas is looking to prove that they are the real deal. This game should have been the College GameDay or SEC Nation pick, but that is neither here nor there. Look for a game decided on the line and by the defense. Who can sustain a strong, shut-down defense from start to finish?
Pick: Texas A&M
No. 14 Iowa State at Baylor
Baylor now has more wins this year, 3-0, than they did all of last season, so that is pretty great for them at least. Iowa State is 2-1, with a loss to Iowa, but sits at No. 14 in the rankings. Is Breece Hall ready to show that Heisman-level run ability that he boasted a season ago? Can Brock Purdy show the world that Iowa State is a contender or is this the game that Baylor really figures it all out and knocks off Iowa State?
Pick: Iowa State
No. 24 UCLA at Stanford
UCLA knocked off LSU to open the season and many were excited by the Bruins. However, now, we aren’t all that sure that LSU is that big of a “knock off” and we aren’t sure how to take UCLA at all after a loss to Fresno State. This will be a closer game than anyone expects and may even end with the team that no one is picking as the winner.
Pick: Stanford
