Notre Dame football has struggled this season and will take on Wisconsin in Chicago on Saturday. Here are three bold predictions for the Irish.

In what will be one of the best matchups in Week 4 of the college football season, Notre Dame football will battle Wisconsin at Soldier Field.

This was supposed to be the second meeting between the Fighting Irish and the Badgers in the last two years, but the game scheduled for Lambeau was pushed back due to COVID-19.

No matter though, because college football fans will get their fill on Saturday as the 12th-ranked Irish take on 19th-ranked Wisconsin in a critical matchup for both teams.

Notre Dame football is 3-0 but the Irish haven’t looked great. They needed overtime to beat Florida State and Toldeo played them close too, as well as Purdue.

Wisconsin, on the other hand, is 1-1 on the season, and outside of a home loss to Penn State, the Badgers’ only other win is over Eastern Michigan.

One strange connection between the two teams, outside of both being ranked and hoping to contend for the College Football Playoff is the fact that Jack Coan has now played for both.

He’s going to start for Notre Dame but started for the Badgers back in 2019. That’s college football for you and our predictions start with the quarterback position.

Jack Coan proves to be the better QB

When Graham Mertz burst on the scene with a near-perfect game against Illinois last season, everyone thought the Badgers found a star.

And who knows, maybe Mertz will realize that potential but he has struggled and so far this season he has zero touchdowns and two interceptions.

Coan, on the other hand, hasn’t always been great but certainly has been more consistent. He’s averaging 276 yards per game to go along with eight touchdowns. He does have two picks but on Saturday, he’s going to have the edge.

He’s just more experienced and even though Wisconsin is very familiar with him, and he’s prone to probably one mistake, he’ll outplay Mertz.
