The result was not surprising for the Vanderbilt versus Georgia football game, but the way the game happened for the Bulldogs was nonetheless impressive.

The Bulldogs led 35-0 after only the first quarter and cruised to a win in Nashville. The Georgia defense dominated a poor Vanderbilt offense and Georgia football cruised all afternoon. Now, all eyes are going to turn to a huge conference game next week when Arkansas comes to Athens.

This game was over from the opening kickoff. Quarterback JT Daniels did not play outside of the first quarter and threw for over 100 yards and only one incompletion. Backup Stetson Bennett IV came in the game and struggled a little bit at times, but was good enough to continue to move the ball against the Commodores.

This result is going to be glossed over for the most part, but the way Georgia just mercilessly dominated the game was eye-opening. They did not just beat Vanderbilt, they made them look like an FCS level program and just annihilated them. Vanderbilt at one point in the game had only 14 yards passing and 54 yards total on offense. It does not matter who you are playing, dominating a division one football program like that is noteworthy.

Alabama deserves to maintain their number one ranking as they are the defending national champions. However, Georgia is arguably the number one team in the country and they are proving it week to week. This is a team that is going to get better as the year goes on, too.

Key players like Darnell Washington and Tykee Smith will be back and maybe even star receiver George Pickens. This is an excellent football team that is a national title contender.

Here are the three takeaways from Georgia’s win over Vanderbilt.
