College Football Rankings 2021: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 5
What Coastal Carolina did to UMass should have been illegal as they went up big early on and never looked back. The Chanticleers won by 50 points and they’re starting to really look like a threat to Cincinnati for that Group of Five spot in a New Year’s Six bowl this season.
BYU has looked like one of the best non-Power Five conference teams this season, beating three Pac-12 teams to start the year 3-0 and they were up big in the first half against South Florida and that should be an easy fourth win for Kalani Sitake. Could this team play for a New Year’s Six bowl? It sure looks like it.
Red-hot Ole Miss was off this week as the Rebels get an extra week to prepare for Alabama. The Rebels likely won’t sneak into the top 10 after this week’s events, but a win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa next week would not only get them there but probably vault Lane Kiffin’s squad into the top five. With Matt Corral, anything is possible.
It wasn’t a great showing for Zach Calzada and Texas A&M as the Aggies were upended by Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Aggies just didn’t have the offense to keep up with Arkansas and that might be a problem when they face more contenders in the conference. For now, we’ll see a drop out of the top 10.
We didn’t see Anthony Richardson yet again, but it didn’t matter as the Gators had their way with Tennessee 38-14 on Saturday afternoon. Emory Jones played his best game of the season with 21-of-27 completions for over 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns as the Gators cruised to victory. Florida is a serious contender in the SEC this season.
