After struggling against Oregon in Week 2 with a loss and then needing a late second-half surge to put Tulsa away, Ohio State needed a big win over Akron on Saturday evening and they got just that, blowing the doors off the Zips in Columbus.

Ryan Day announced earlier in the week that CJ Stroud would be sitting out in the Week 4 matchup unless there was an emergency and the Buckeyes didn’t need him.

Ohio State led by just seven points after the first quarter and then they went on to score 45 straight points to win 59-7 in blowout fashion and backup quarterback Kyle McCord looked solid, completing 13-of-18 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged a wild 17.7 yards per attempt.

Ohio State got back on track on both sides of the ball and this is exactly what the Buckeyes needed in Week 4.
