Heisman trophy candidate No. 4: Spencer Rattler, QB, Oklahoma

Oklahoma football fans sure are spoiled, aren’t they? The Sooners won just 16-13 over West Virginia and Spencer Rattler was somewhat pedestrian again, but he completed 71 percent of his passes and threw for 256 yards.

However, he did average just 7.1 yards per attempt, as well as throwing an interception and not getting any positive yards on the ground when it was all over due to four sacks.

But, on the positives, Rattler is leading a top-5 team and is 4-0. He’s thrown for 1,017 yards and eight touchdowns but does have three interceptions. He also has two rushing touchdowns.

Yes, Oklahoma fans were chanting for the backup — former five-star Caleb Williams — but many teams would love the kind of production Rattler has given the Sooners.

To be fair, he hasn’t looked like a Heisman winner often this season, but who has? It’s slim pickings and if he can turn things around, he still has a good chance of at least reaching New York, that is as long as he can stave off getting benched.

What a weird year…
