1. Arkansas

You know the storylines already: the Aggies hadn’t lost to the Razorbacks since joining the SEC as new members in 2012, despite some late-game theatrics. Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman rightfully questioned the game’s continued neutral-site location, despite the relocation to College Station last year. None of the outside noise mattered, though, as Arkansas set the tone defensively in a 20-10 victory.

In addition to wins against Rice and Texas, many have dubbed Arkansas as the Southwest Conference champs for this year, a nod to the teams’ former league home together through 1995.

The Razorbacks will be hard-pressed to continue the unbeaten streak, as ESPN’s College GameDay will come to watch the Hogs take on No. 2 Georgia on the road next Saturday. That’s followed by a road trip to No. 12 Ole Miss before hosting No. 22 Auburn. Arkansas may lose a couple of games in the next few weeks, but this could easily still be a 10-win team, which would be its best mark in a decade.

2. Boston College

Few gave the Eagles much of a chance heading into Saturday’s home game against Missouri, whose head coach questioned the value of playing a road game in New England for an SEC school. That’s a distant memory now, as Boston College pulled out the overtime win against the Tigers in Week 4. The Eagles are now 4-0 for the first time since 2007.

Boston College had faced a paltry schedule before the Tigers came to town, posting wins against Colgate, UMass, and Temple to begin the season. A better indication of the Eagles’ early success will come immediately in the next two weeks with a visit from No. 25 Clemson preceding a road trip to No. 23 NC State.
