Notre Dame football is off to a good start to the 2021 season despite a couple of close calls against Toledo and Florida State. The Irish ended the month with comfortable wins over Purdue and Wisconsin which were much-needed heading into the October slate.

Staying in the playoff race isn’t going to be easy, especially given the schedule over the next month. The Irish will host top-10 Cincinnati before hitting the road to take on Virginia Tech. They’ll then host USC and North Carolina to end the month.

Let’s get bold ahead of the second month of play for the Irish.

3. Kyren Williams averages 100 rushing yards per game

What the heck is going on with Kyren Williams this year? It seems like last year’s 1,000-yard rusher for the Irish is in the midst of a sophomore slump.

Through the first month of the season, Williams has just 244 yards and two touchdowns on just 3.8 yards per touch. He desperately needs to bounce back in October and I think he has the schedule set up for him to do just that.

USC and North Carolina don’t exactly have elite defenses and Virginia Tech and Cincinnati can give up yards on the ground so I’m going to say Williams has a big month and averages over 100 yards per game.

Is this bold? Absolutely given the fact that he doesn’t have a single 100-yard rushing game yet this season. That’s going to change soon.
