SEC Football Power Rankings, Week 5: Arkansas pushing for top spot
By Shelbie Warr
SEC football is starting to take shape, but the middle of the conference still feels like a mess where anyone could win on any given day. On that note though, let’s get everyone caught up with what they missed over Saturday’s adventures in the SEC, starting with the morning slate.
LSU got its revenge on Mississippi State, though it was a close call. The final in that one was 28-25 in Starkville. Then, Missouri made us all look bad by losing to Boston College 41-34. Finally, in the morning slate, Georgia absolutely murdered Vanderbilt 62-0, putting up 35 in the first quarter. It was a blood bath and was not pretty at all for those few ‘Dores fans in attendance — if there were any because that stadium looked pretty red and black to me.
To start the afternoon slate, Arkansas shocked Texas A&M and exposed some bad quarterback play as they moved into the top 10 after a 20-10 victory over the Aggies. Then, Auburn struggled to get it going against Georgia Southern after a promising showing at Penn State a week prior. After benching a struggling Bo Nix, TJ Finley was able to put it together for the Tigers to win 34-24.
Florida took on Tennessee and despite a close struggle to start, the Gators came out on top 38-14. Kentucky and South Carolina played one of the most sloppy games of football seen in a long time. The Wildcats came out victorious though, 16-10. Finally, Alabama did what was expected of them and won 63-14 against Southern Miss.
Now, the real fun begins. Let’s talk power rankings, starting at the bottom.
