Jimbo Fisher has some questions to answer after Texas A&M football had a sour finish to the month of September. He has some things to figure out quickly as Alabama is getting ready to come to town on Oct. 9.

The Aggies have a quarterback issue with Zach Calzada struggling in place of an injured Haynes King and there’s reason for doubt in a playoff run if he’s QB1 for an extended period of time.

Texas A&M will open the month with Mississippi State before getting Alabama, but will the Aggies be able to conjure up some momentum heading into that matchup with the No. 1 Tide?

Let’s dive into some October bold predictions.

3. Eli Stowers takes over as QB1

Let’s face it, Zach Calzada isn’t going to cut it for another few weeks, at least, before Haynes King returns. And I think that Jimbo Fisher’s decision to move Eli Stowers to tight end this season was a little premature, especially given how highly touted he was as a quarterback recruit.

For those reasons, I think we’re going to see the true freshman fill in for Calzada eventually and hold onto the starting job until King returns.

Stowers was one of the top quarterbacks in the 2021 recruiting class and he has plenty of size and a strong arm so I think Fisher is going to take his chances with a guy with a very high ceiling over a struggling veteran — what’s the worst that could happen?

Stowers will be QB1 at some point this month.
