UCLA Football: 3 bold predictions for October 2021
Chip Kelly is off to his best start as UCLA football coach and it looks like the Bruins have finally turned the corner under his reign.
The Bruins began the season 2-0 with convincing wins over Hawaii and LSU before falling in upset fashion to Fresno State. That loss isn’t looking so terrible as the Bulldogs nearly upset Oregon in the opener and they’re playing great football this year, jumping into the AP Top 25.
UCLA rebounded to beat Stanford on the road and the Bruins head into the month of October with a 3-1 record, ranked No. 20 in the nation.
What can we expect from the Bruins in October? Let’s get bold.
3. Zach Charbonnet reaches 1,000 yards
During his time at Michigan, Zach Charbonnet rushed for about 850 yards and 14 touchdowns over the span of two seasons. In his first four games at UCLA, Charbonnet has 360 yards and seven touchdowns on a career-best 7.8 yards per carry and he’s on pace to put up career-highs in every category.
Charbonnet has actually already put up a career-high in receiving yards, catching seven passes for 106 yards when his previous high was 41 yards.
That hot start is going to roll over into October as he’ll have five games to reach that elusive 1,000-yard rushing plateau and he’s going to do just that.
The junior running back already has three games with at least 100 rushing yards and I think we’re going to see 4-5 more in October as he averages over 100 yards per game and hits 1,000 yards on the season.
