College Football 2021: Top 3 under-the-radar games to watch in Week 5
By Shane Lunnen
1. Arizona State at (20) UCLA
You will have to stay up late if you want to view likely the best matchup in the Pac-12 this week. Pac-12 After Dark features a battle of 3-1 teams as Arizona State visits the Rose Bowl to take on UCLA.
Both teams enter this pivotal matchup with a conference win. A week ago, the Sun Devils beat Colorado while the Bruins defeated Stanford. The winner here will likely be the favorite to win the Pac-12 South division crown.
The key in this game will be if Arizona State can crack through the conference’s best rush defense. UCLA is allowing only 2.4 yards per carry and under 64 yards on the ground through four games. The good news for the Sun Devils is they should have the services of running back DeaMonte Trayanum. The sophomore has not played since the season opener due to a sprained ankle.
This is Chip Kelly’s fourth year with the Bruins and he needs to start proving he has them moving in the right direction. UCLA made a statement against LSU in Week 2 but followed it up with an upset loss to Fresno State.
If the Bruins are going to factor into the Pac-12 conference race, they must win this game. Kelly owns a 6-1 record all time against the Sun Devils. If he makes it 7-1 Saturday night, the Bruins will be in the driver’s seat.
