5. Army Black Knights (4-0)

Ball State has had its struggles this season, and the Knights should take care of business. However, after traveling to Muncie, Army has an opportunity to stake a claim to the New Year’s Six.

If the Knights can find a way to beat both Wisconsin and Wake Forest in consecutive weeks, Army has a legit argument for the New Year’s Six. What could be more awesome than the Army Black Knights playing in a New Year’s Six Bowl?

4. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (4-0)

The short answer would be a school whose mascot is a rooster from The Canterberry Tails. Unfortunately for the Chanticleers, they begin Sun Belt play and will not have the quality Power Five win that most other teams in the Watch will have.

Coastal plays Appalachian State, but the Mountaineers don’t have the resume they had last season. Also, the Chants avoid Louisiana in their crossover. They may run the table, but they would need anarchy to make the New Year’s Six.

3. San Diego State Aztecs (4-0)

The Aztecs went 2-0 against the Pac-12 in their non-conference slate and begin their Mountain West slate against New Mexico this weekend. The best thing about San Diego State’s schedule is that the Aztecs do have another ranked team on their schedule.

If Fresno State continues their solid play, the Aztecs and Bulldogs clash on Oct. 30, which could be a pivotal game in the Mountain West and for the New Year’s Six.
