Iowa State football is off to a shaky start to its 2021 season. The Cyclones are 2-2 on the year after starting in the top 15 and losses to Iowa and Baylor have marred their month of September.

Now that October is here, Iowa State is hoping for a bounce-back, but the Cyclones and Matt Campbell will need some help from their top players who haven’t quite lived up to expectations through four games.

Will Iowa State get back on track with a near-perfect month of October?

Let’s get bold ahead of a big month for Iowa State.

3. Breece Hall reaches 1,000 rushing yards

Breece Hall had a really rough start to the 2021 season, rushing for 238 yards and four touchdowns through three games. While those numbers don’t sound awful, he averaged well under 5.0 yards per carry, toting the rock 60 times to reach the 238 yards.

But he’s coming off his best game of the season that gave everyone flashbacks of his 2020 self when he had 1,500 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns. He had 190 yards and two touchdowns on just 27 carries against Baylor, averaging 7.0 yards per carry and he also had five catches for 51 yards and another score.

That momentum is going to carry over into the month of October.

Hall is going to reach 1,000 yards on the season after a big month, averaging over 125 rushing yards per game. Will he be back in the Heisman conversation? Maybe, but he’ll be back to his usual form.
