College Football Rankings 2021: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 6
What a nightmare scenario for Texas A&M. After dropping their first game of the season a week ago, the Aggies lost at home to a team that they should have handled in Mississippi State. Zach Calzada doesn’t seem to be the answer at quarterback and this offense is an issue. The playoff is now out of reach.
The Longhorns nearly found their way back into the AP Top 25 last week but were the top team receiving votes on the outside ahead of Week 5. A strong road win over in-state rival TCU is going to help matters here as Steve Sarkisian’s team is trending in the right direction.
After dropping out of the AP Top 25 earlier in the season, we’re going to see Arizona State creep back in after a convincing win over UCLA. Are the Bruins really that good? It doesn’t really matter because a 19-point win in conference play on the road over a ranked team is solid any way you slice it.
We’re at the point where wins don’t even feel like wins for Clemson anymore. The Tigers did beat a good Boston College team, but it was an ugly 19-13 game and DJ Uiagalelei still doesn’t look very good. Kobe Pace had a really good game on the ground with over 100 yards and Joseph Ngata had 111 receiving yards, but the Tigers just aren’t it this year.
Wake Forest played one of the most underrated matchups of the week against a red-hot Louisville team and held on to win despite getting the Cardinals’ best effort. The Demon Deacons will stay in the top 25 after hitting the game-winning field goal with under 30 seconds left.
