College Football Rankings 2021: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 6
Notre Dame might have to kiss its playoff hopes goodbye after losing by 11 to Cincinnati at home, but there’s still time to run the table and impress the committee. Still, this was a bad game all around for the Irish and the fact that they don’t have a true QB1 is cause for concern moving forward. We’ll see a healthy drop out of the top 10 from the Irish.
Arkansas is going to drop a bit outside of the top 10 after a 37-0 loss to Georgia but because of how good the Razorbacks looked in the first month, I don’t think it’ll be too far. Did the Razorbacks look bad? Yes, but Georgia can do that to just about anyone and AP voters know that. This is still a really good team.
Michigan State did what it needed to do against an explosive Western Kentucky team, winning by 17 points in a high-scoring affair. The Hilltoppers threw for about 500 yards while Payton Thorne had a strong game for Michigan State and Kenneth Walker III rushed for over 100 yards again. A win’s a win, but this wasn’t pretty.
Just a week after Baylor climbed into the rankings, it was effectively knocked right back out by Oklahoma State which looked really good on Saturday. It seems like Mike Gundy has something special brewing in Stillwater as the Cowboys look like legit threats to Oklahoma for the Big 12 title.
There’s a pretty good chance we’re going to see Coastal Carolina run the table this season as the Sun Belt doesn’t seem to stand a chance. The Chanticleers had a matchup with UL-Monroe in Week 5 and they took care of business with a 59-6 win. Grayson McCall went 13-for-13 with 212 yards and two touchdowns in a perfect showing and the Chants improve to 5-0.
