Week 5 Status: Won 41-31 vs Boise State

Nevada surges into the updated power rankings with a quality win over Boise State. Their only loss this season came on the road against Kansas State. The Wolfpack currently find themselves at the top of the Mount West-West Division since they have a conference win. Junior QB Carson Strong is playing efficiently this season, completing 108 of 160 passes for 1,218 yards. He’s thrown eight touchdowns and just two interceptions through four games.

Week 5 Status: Won 20-18 vs South Alabama

Louisiana finds itself at the top of the Sun Belt-West Division with a big win over South Alabama. The only loss for the Ragin’ Cajuns came in Week 1 against a ranked Texas team. QB Levi Lewis has more than 1,000 passing yards and more than 100 rushing yards this season. Louisiana will use the bye week to prepare for a huge game against Appalachian State on Oct. 12.

Week 5 Status: Won 24-17 vs Buffalo

Western Michigan is riding a four-game winning streak after dropping the season opener to Michigan. Along the way, the Broncos upset Pittsburg on the road, giving them a big win against a Power Five opponent. They beat Buffalo this week by one score, giving them another quality win. The Broncos are the best team in the MAC and voters are beginning to recognize that. WMU received votes in both the AP Top-25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll after Week 5.

Air Force earned two straight blowout wins over FAU and New Mexico after losing to Utah State in Week 3. They now turn their attention to Wyoming in a huge Mountain West Conference game, set for Oct. 9 on CBSSN.

Houston is doing their best to position itself as the direct challenger to SMU as the superior team in the American Conference. They made a case by blowing out Tulsa by 35 points on national tv in Week 5. Houston’s 17 point loss to Texas Tech in the season opener continues to be the only blemish on their record.
