1. LSU at (16) Kentucky

Could an upset be in the making when LSU meets Kentucky? In a sign of a year that could be chaos, it is LSU with the underdog label heading into this one.

The SEC’s eight-game conference schedule with only two divisional crossovers per season is the reason for this being the first matchup between the two schools in seven years. You will have to go back 14 years to find the last game played in Lexington, which was a thriller in triple overtime with the Wildcats emerging victorious over the then top-ranked Tigers.

This time around, Kentucky enters the ranked team and LSU is unranked. The Wildcats are a surprising 5-0 while the Tigers are an equally surprising but disappointing 3-2. There are rumblings about Ed Orgeron’s future in Baton Rouge. Considering LSU is only two seasons removed from a national championship, it seems ludicrous but that is the fan mentality in college football at schools with high expectations.

Kentucky’s weakness is its penchant for turning over the ball, 12 giveaways in the first five games. They were able to get away with it in the first four games, where 11 of those giveaways occurred, because of the quality of the opponent. In the win against Florida, the Wildcats only turned the ball over once.

Kentucky does not have the best of offenses and they still need to work on keeping the turnovers down but somehow it has worked for them so far. Can they keep it going and get to 6-0 before mid-October? It will be interesting to find out.
