We are officially into the third month of the college football season and after Week 5, it’s time to dive into our College Football Playoff and bowl projections.

It was another consequential week of college football. Week 5 of the season (sixth overall) featured a number of high-profile matchups such as Georgia-Arkansas, Alabama, and Ole Miss, as well as Cincinatti and Notre Dame.

Michigan also notched an impressive win to improve to 5-0, a record matched by Michigan State and Penn State as four Big Ten teams are undefeated and Ohio State isn’t among them but is still looking like a College Football Playoff contender.

In terms of national title contenders, right now there are two: Alabama and Georgia.

Until someone proves otherwise, those teams are head and shoulders above the rest. Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma, and Cincy have played well and have solid resumes, but can any of those teams hang with Bama or Georgia?

My Magic 8 ball says it’s not likely. They are headed for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots and it’s a high probability they meet in the SEC title game, with the loser still advancing to the four-team playoff.

Depending on how things play out if the Dawgs and the Tide win the rest of their games, regardless of what happens in the SEC title game, they are going to be in the top three, at least, when it’s time to pick the College Football Playoff participants.

There are plenty of teams in the mix to fill out the playoff field and now that we are nearly midway through the season, here’s our bowl projections, playoff included.
