College Football Playoff and bowl projections prior to Week 6
Orange Bowl Semifinal Dec 31: Alabama (1) vs Oklahoma (4)
Oklahoma hasn’t been all that impressive this season but the Sooners are 5-0 and face their biggest test yet on Saturday against Texas. We’ll find out a lot about the Sooners and quarterback Spencer Rattler on Saturday.
We already know that Alabama is one of college football’s two uber-dominant teams as the Crimson Tide crushed Ole Miss last weekend, winning by 21.
While numerous Big Ten teams have better resumes right now including Penn State, it makes sense to have one each from the Big 12 and Big Ten at this point.
Cotton Bowl Semifinal Dec 31: Georgia (2) vs Iowa (3)
It was tough choosing between Penn State and Iowa, but the Hawkeyes have been dominant this season and put together some impressive wins over Iowa State, Indiana and even last week against Maryland, the Hawkeyes cruised to a 51-14 win.
Georgia has been absolutely dominant this year too and it’s hard to argue against Georgia being ranked No. 1 right now, other than the Dawgs haven’t been able to beat Alabama and until we actually see them do it, it’s hard to trust that they can.
JT Daniels is still dealing with injuries and the Bulldogs are going to need him healthy to win a national championship, even with the defense in college football, period.
