If you wanted to make the argument that Georgia football was the top team in the country, the only serious pushback you might get would be from Alabama fans. Georgia has been lights out to start the season and many are already penciling the Bulldogs in for a playoff spot.

It might be too early to do that, however.

Going undefeated is tough and Auburn has proven to be capable of making things weird for top-ranked opponents. The Tigers come into the game 4-1, with the only loss being on the road at Penn State, which is one of the hardest environments to play in in college football. Auburn went into Baton Rouge and beat LSU on the road for the first time since 1999 last week.

The Tigers have been solid this season, but it is a fair criticism that they have not been very consistent. Auburn’s offense looked good through the first two games, but in the last three, it has been uneven. Bo Nix is always a wildcard in any game and the offensive line has not gotten the job done.

This is a huge game for both teams. Georgia is looking to get another dominant win over a ranked opponent and further cement themselves as the top team in the country. Auburn is looking to get a huge SEC victory and show that they are true contenders in the conference this season. Look for emotions to be flowing early in the Deep South’s oldest rivalry.
