The chances of making the playoff for Notre Dame football may be over after their devastating loss to Cincinnati last Saturday, but there’s still the goal of winning out and having a successful year. Especially for the seniors on the roster, or some juniors who will be moving onto the NFL.

The Notre Dame season could go two different directions for the rest of the year. Door No. 1 is they come out this weekend fired up and put last week behind them and get back on track playing well.

Door No. 2 is they could let the loss still be in their heads from the Cincinnati game and not be focused and play poorly against Virginia Tech. This direction would also mean back-to-back losses for the first time in a while around the Irish program and let the season spiral out of control.

In my opinion, I see more of door number one compared to door number two. This team definitely has the talent and the pride factor to go out and still have a successful year even if the playoffs are not in reach this season.

After facing Wisconsin and Cincinnati in back-to-back weeks the schedule does not get much easier for the Irish. Notre Dame now hits the road to take on a feisty Virginia Tech team under the lights in Blacksburg.

Virginia Tech enters this matchup with a record of 3-1 on the season. The one loss came on the road at West Virginia 27-21. Virginia Tech started off the year with the first major upset when they knocked off then No. 10 North Carolina in Blacksburg. The Hokies come into this matchup against Notre Dame well rested after having a bye last weekend.

Lane Stadium in Blacksburg is always a tough place to play especially at night under the lights. The stadium will be rocking all night and it will not be easy for the Irish once the Hokies enter in while the speakers blast enter sandman

Luckily for Notre Dame, this is not its first true road game as the Irish have already played at Florida State to open up the season.

Here are three bold predictions for Notre Dame against Virginia Tech.
