Who could have possibly seen BYU football playing this well five games into the 2021 season after losing a top-five NFL draft pick at quarterback?

Definitely not me.

But Kalani Sitake is proving to be one of the best non-Power Five coaches in the country and if he’s not careful, he’s going to start getting blank checks from some of the top programs in search of a head coach this offseason.

The Cougars are 5-0 heading into a big matchup with Boise State on Saturday afternoon and they’re hoping to take care of business to become bowl eligible.

Will BYU handle the Broncos?

3. Tyler Allgeier rushes for over 150 yards again

Tyler Allgeier is coming off his best game of the season, rushing for over 200 yards and three touchdowns as he’s now approaching 600 yards on the year.

The sophomore running back looks to finally be hitting his stride after a slow start to the season. He had 265 yards and two touchdowns on 65 carries through his first three games but has 304 yards and five touchdowns on 37 touches over his past two. It looks like he’s really gaining confidence.

The Boise State run defense allows 194 yards per game which is great news for Allgeier and the Cougars.

Allgeier is going to rush for over 150 yards for a second straight game and he’ll average over six yards per carry. He’s approaching that No. 1 spot nationally for rushing yards, but he needs a couple more big games.
