Texas A&M football fans were feeling really down after losing to Arkansas and then to Mississippi State. Many were ready to attack the team and fire Jimbo Fisher, burning the whole thing down and starting over.
The students still camped out for tickets, but don’t let them tell you that they were sure this would be a win or anything like that. They were just ready to back their team, no matter what, something that the Aggie faithful take pride in.
What did the Aggies show us in this big win?
3. The offensive line may have figured it out
Texas A&M has struggled on the offensive line throughout the season. They lost four starting seniors at the end of last season and things have been a big-time learning experience since.
Even before Haynes King went down, he was running for his life and trying to figure out how to deal with a lack of protection. When Zach Calzada took over, it seemed to get even worse. The offense could not get going well enough to win the last two weeks and things were looking grim for the Aggies.
However, this week against Alabama, the offensive line did not allow a sack and only allowed four tackles for loss throughout the whole matchup. Bryce Foster rocked it at the center position, especially for a true freshman, and the rest of the line matched his energy and intensity. They were able to make those holes that Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane needed and gave Calzada the time he needed to make the decisions that won the Aggies the game.
