14. Miami Hurricanes (2-3, 0-1)

One of the reasons the Miami Hurricanes were slated to have a good season was the number of upperclassmen returning to Coral Gables. None more important than quarterback D’Eriq King. Injuries have derailed the season, however.

The Hurricanes have had injuries along the offensive line, and now King is having season-ending shoulder surgery, as reported by Andrea Adelson of ESPN. The Hurricanes play North Carolina coming off of their bye week.

13. Duke Blue Devils (3-3, 0-2)

The Blue Devils had the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on the ropes before giving up a 36-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute to go in the game. Duke was in control for most of the game but could not close the deal when it counted.

Charlie Ham missed two field goals, and the Blue Devils failed to convert a fourth and short inside Georgia Tech’s 20-yard line in the first quarter. Those types of miscues cost you games; it did Duke. Those need cleaning if they want to beat Virginia next weekend.

12. Louisville Cardinals (3-3, 1-2)

The Cardinals are suffering tough luck again this season. Louisville has lost two of their last three games by a combined six points. The Cardinals did everything right against Virginia. Louisville sacked Brennan Armstrong five times and forced two turnovers.

Lousiville was up 30-13 going into the fourth quarter and gave up 21 points in the final frame. Virginia could not run the ball and was down 17 points. Louisville knew what was coming and could not close the deal. The Cardinals are off before hosting Boston College on Oct. 22.
